About the owners
I am originally from the US but have spent 25 years in Europe, 5 of those being in Rome. My husband Adrian grew up in London and now runs a London-based residential building project management firm, but also lived in Rome where we both worked in television. We now have 3 kids, live in London and I work in Sports Media. Although we lived in Italy for 5 years, we had never spent any time in Umbria until after we were living in London.
Why this property?
We fell in love with Umbria after spending a family holiday there in 2001. Although less known than Tuscany, it offers the same quality of Italian experience. The beautiful settings, wonderful villages and superb food offer a top quality vacation.
Palombara is set in 5 acres of walkable land with terrific views from both front and back of the villa. The original house is over 400 years old with the pizza oven originally serving as the communal oven for the village of Camerata, a scenic 15 minute walk away. The house is also well situated for the cycling enthusiast or amateur, with the larger village of Collelungo a 20 minute cycle away. The Etruscan town of Todi, is a 15 minute drive away, which offers several top quality restaurants. Umbria is also home to Vissani , on the top rated restaurants in Italy on the shores of Lago Corbara.
The house is very well equipped for families, my kids have grown up there and we are happy to pass on the same experience.
